Things to do in Whitefield, beyond the malls
Whitefield is usually described in terms of tech parks and traffic. Spend a day here properly and it is quieter than its reputation: gardens, small studios, live music in courtyards and food that is not from a chain. Here is how we would spend a day, starting at our own gate — and where else to go while you are in the neighbourhood.

A day, planned
How we would spend a slow day in Whitefield
9:00 am
Breakfast in the courtyard at Namma Ashram — pancakes, fruit bowls or paneer bhurji, and a filter coffee under the trees.
11:00 am
A workshop in Aangan, the skylit hall: pottery, art, movement or a talk, depending on what is on that week.
1:30 pm
A slow home-style lunch, then an hour doing nothing in particular on the lawn.
4:00 pm
Walk the neighbourhood — Whitefield's older lanes and park greens are best in the late afternoon.
6:00 pm
Sound healing, a listening session or a live set in Malang, the open lawn.
8:30 pm
Dinner at the café; the kitchen runs until eleven.

Good to know
Whitefield questions, answered
What is there to do in Whitefield other than malls?+
Plenty, if you know where to look: garden cafés, pottery and art studios, yoga and sound healing sessions, live music evenings, parks and neighbourhood walks. Namma Ashram on Nallurahalli Road combines several of these on one property.
Is Whitefield good for a day out?+
Yes. A comfortable day is breakfast at a garden café, a morning workshop, a slow lunch, an afternoon walk and an evening gathering or live set — all within a few kilometres.
What is there to do in Whitefield in the evening?+
Sound healing sessions, open mics, live music and dinner outdoors. At Namma Ashram the café runs to 11 pm and evening events are held in the garden or the hall.
Where can I take visitors in Whitefield?+
Somewhere with trees and a menu worth lingering over. Our courtyard, garden and gallery work well for guests who want to see something other than an office district.
